Super

"Believe it or not,I'm walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free-
Flying away on a wing and a prayer.
Who could it be?
Believe it or not it's just me."

This card features a Kraftin' Kimmie superheroine with C.C. Designs dies and stenciling. The colouring is Distress ink with waterbrush.

Putting It Together

I like superheros. I could probably say more but, as I was writing this, time snuck to nearly 2am *gasp*

I started by stamping in a light brown and was considering making stripes on a panel with a blue square in one quarter, something vaguely flag-like.

I secured my white panel to my work surface with micropore tape

I laid the template over the panel and secured it with washi tape.

While masking off the area for the blue, the perfectionist in me insisted on only 13 stripes and with the placement of them. I masked off all other parts of the stencil and the panel under it.

I used the blender tool to add Candied Apple.

With the stencil and masks removed, nice crisp stripes.

I masked off the stripes and the rest of the pane and added Blueprint Sketch.

A lovely flag-like askew image for a background.

I changed my mind on the super hero and stamped her in black in on light weight watercolour paper. The black stamping is like cell-shading used in comic books. I laid the stamping over the flag to mentally visualize how they would go together.

I painted the image with Distress ink and waterbrush making note of the colours used on one of the scraps I had used for masking on the flag. I added accents with Gelly Roll markers.

I fussy cut the image with a thin margin. I also closely fussy cut the stars to place on the blue field.

With an oval cut, I started to think of the July sketch for Kraftin' Kimmie's challenges.

I recently got a super hero themed die set on CC Designs. They have several die sets on clearance currently so I got this set for a song. I trimmed a blue foiled panel and dry fit the dies.

I dry fit everything together and slipped a scrap of red holographic paper under the die cut. Initially I had thought to put red under the stars as well but liked the way the white looked.

I anchored the holographic scrap with washi on the back of the blue panel. I did the same with the white behind the stars.

I added Wink of Stella to the fussy cut stars for a bit of sparkle.

I adhered most of the girl to flag oval and then used foam mounting tape on the oval and the parts of the girl sticking out past the oval to pop them up from the card for dimension.

I added gold holographic matting to finish the card. The fussy cut stars were added with Multi-medium matte. I also added one  and a half of the blue stars from the die cutting to make the 'hole' in the "p" and "e" for "super".

For the inside of the card, I use a sentiment from a Craftin' Desert Divas set and a stencil from Stampin' Up.
